A young Norfolk County athlete is on track to accomplish a very difficult goal.

Annaleise Carr from Simcoe is attempting to become the youngest person to swim across Lake Ontario. The fourteen year old entered the water at 6:00 last night at Niagara-on-the-Lake and she swam through the night.

By early this morning, her team had announced she was past the halfway mark of her 52-and-a-half kilometre journey, and she is now less than 15 kilometres from the northern shore. Annaleise plans to climb out of the lake at Marilyn Bell Park in Toronto sometime this afternoon, probably between 2:00 and 3:00.

Annaleise is accepting pledges of support for Camp Trillium in Waterford, with a goal of raising 30-thousand dollars.  For more updates on her swim and to find out how to donate, go to "annaleiseslakeontariocrossing.weebly.net".
