It could be a record setting year when it comes to building in Bayham if the first quarter results are any indication. Council has been told there has been an almost 40 percent increase in the number of permits issued which means almost double the fees collected. In the first three months of this year the municipality has issued 32 permits, 8 of which are for homes. That is an increase from 5 a year ago and 3 given out 2 years ago.
Bayham will be following the advice of the Elgin County Accessibility Coordinator when it comes to designing new playgrounds or refurbishing existing ones. Changes to playgrounds will bring Bayham into compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. The main thrust of the designs is to make access to all equipment is available and that toy structures are designed so they can be used by people with disabilities. (bd)
