Unifor Local 88 and GM Canada have begun contract talks for employees at Ingersoll's CAMI Assembly plant.

Union Unit Chairperson Mike Van Boekel says in a press release that GM has done very well in the past 4 years and its time for the workers to share in that success.

The union is looking for improved wages, benefits and a new investment in the Ingersoll facility.

Local 88 President Dan Borthwick says “Success in these negotiations will determine the livelihoods of nearly 3,000 workers and the future of the GM CAMI assembly plant in Ingersoll”

The current collective agreement expires on September 17th.
