A potential recreational hub set to be built in Simcoe is facing problems, especially since Norfolk council rejected the idea of spending $98,000 on a consultants review this week.

Norfolk council budgeted $50,000 for the study in March but balked Tuesday when the lowest qualified bid came in at nearly double that amount.

Talks of the hub have been ongoing for the past year, but the future doesn't look bright.

The Simcoe Seniors Centre is not willing to have a facility outside the downtown core, Fanshawe is unwilling to commit money to the project, its a huge expense and would take 5-6 years before it could officially be opened.
