The latest attempt by St. Thomas to tear down a derelict building in the city core may be on hold once again. Demolition of the Sutherland Press building, scheduled to start next week, is the subject of a court of appeal hearing today in Toronto. It's the third time in nearly a decade owner David McGee has filed an appeal to halt demolition of the building dating back to 1913. In 2008 and 2016, McGee successfully obtained a court injunction to halt the city from levelling the four-storey structure. Earlier this summer, Justice Peter Hockin upheld a pair of city work orders, in essence confirming the building was in an unsafe condition, clearing the way for demolition.
