A Brantford man, looking for a furry friend ended up the victim of fraud.

On November 24th, the man told police he responded to an on-line ad from a pet relocation company regarding a Pomeranian puppy.

The man was told to send $500 via money gram to an address in Las Vegas. After the transaction went through, the company contacted the man again saying he needed to send another thousand dollars to get the dog. At that point the man knew he was the victim of fraud and called police.

You are advised to always check the legitimacy of a company before sending money and be leery of companies that only accept money via money transfer. And, if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
