Demolition work is set to begin on what will eventually become the first multi-residential development built to the passive house standard in Oxford County.

The site at 373 Blossom Park Road in Woodstock will become a new affordable housing complex for individuals who require support services to live independently.

The development will be heated and cooled passively which means it takes advantage of the sun, internal heating and heat recovery to cut energy use by nearly 90%.

Last year, the County passed a motion mandating all requests for proposals for new affordable housing developments include passive house requirements.
