After the high profile suicides of designer Kate Spade and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, the issue is again top of mind. Even more so in Elgin County after emergency officials responded to 5 suicide related calls over the weekend.

Friday night, a 77 year old man was found dead in the Kettle Creek River, not far from the lift bridge in Port Stanley. The death is not considered suspicious.

Four other men were taken into custody under the Mental Health Act on Saturday, two in Port Burwell, one in Bayham and another in Port Stanley who was found with life-threatening injuries.

Elgin County OPP are reminding people that crisis services are available 24/7 over the phone. But you can always call 911 or go to the emergency room if you are in crisis.
