Oxford MP Dave MacKenzie will head back to Parliament Hill as part of a majority Conservative government.

Unofficially, MacKenzie captured nearly 60-percent of the popular vote, more than 30 points ahead of Paul Arsenault of the NDP.

MacKenzie, with 21-thousand votes, finished 11-thousand votes ahead of Arsenault.

It was a dismal showing for the Liberal candidate Tim Lobzun, who finished a distant third with about 31-hundred votes.

Green party candidate Mike Farlow was 4th with 15-hundred votes and John Markus of the Christian Heritage Party finished 5th with about 600 votes.

46 percent or 35-thousand of 76-thousand eligible voters cast a ballot in the election. (jlw)
