A passerby found part of a human body on the weekend in east Toronto.

And police say that the remains found have “obvious similarities” to a head, a foot and two hands that were found in a river west of Toronto in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police sergeant Pete Brandwood says investigators aren't in a position right now to disclose what body part was found in a bag Saturday.

The find came after other discoveries last week, when over several days, a woman's head, a right foot and two hands were found in the Credit River in the Hewick Meadows Park area of Mississauga.

Police say it is likely that all of the body parts came from the same person.

And Brandwood says investigators are “pretty close” to determining the identity of the victim.
