Global Affairs Canada is now saying that Canadians were affected by yesterday's terrorist attacks in Spain, but it isn't saying if they were killed or injured.

Local officials say on Twitter that the dead and injured from the attacks come from 34 countries.

Thirteen people were killed and more than 100 were wounded after a van mowed down pedestrians in Barcelona's historic Las Ramblas district.

Two people who were inside the van are in custody, but the driver is still on the loose.

Hours after the Barcelona attack, a car struck pedestrians in the seaside town of Cambrils, killing a woman and injuring others.

Police shot and killed five of the Cambrils attackers.

Thousands gathered today in Barcelona's Placa de Catalunya square for a moment of silence for the victims.
