They came out in droves to welcome hockey Royalty. They lined up around the Community Complex to see Gregory Campbell of the Boston Bruins and his buddy Lord Stanley.
One of the perqs of being Stanley Cup champions is you get to spend the day with the Stanley Cup. Campbell, a member of the Boston Bruins, decided to spend part of his sharing the big silver trophy with the people of Tillsonburg.
“It's a fun day for myself and also a fun day for the community and for the people who have never seen it before, Campbell said. "It's a pretty amazing trophy and it doesn't come around this area very often, so if I get an opportunity to bring it back, I'm definitely going to take it."
Campbell spent the first part of his morning with local minor hockey teams getting their photos taken around the cup, before opening the doors of the arena for the general public to spend 90 minutes with hockey royalty.
